FOLEY, Ala. — With more than 270 in attendance, the South Baldwin Literacy Council held its 25th Anniversary Gala and Auction Feb. 12 at the Foley Civic Center.

The council strives to increase literacy in reading and math in children and adults in the southern part of Baldwin County.

“Reading is the key to the world,” said Terry Pampel, a dentist in Gulf Shores. He and his wife, Linda, “wanted to be part of this worthy charity. Every dollar goes to helping people.”
