Lillian Recreational Park’s Fall Fest returns Sept. 19

Posted

Families can kick off the fall season with barbecue, live music, games and a full day of activities at Lillian Recreational Park’s Fall Fest on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature attractions for visitors of all ages. Festivalgoers can enjoy barbecue, live music, a beer tent, arts and crafts vendors, games and activities for children.

The children’s Fun Zone will offer a bouncy house, face painting, balloon art, pumpkin painting, laser tag and a petting zoo. Kids will also have the opportunity to paint pumpkins.

The popular pumpkin smashing activity will return this year. A pumpkin patch will also give visitors the chance to choose a pumpkin to take home.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Lucy Smith, LRP Board president. “Everyone has so much fun! The festival has something for everyone — whether you’re here for the food, the music, or just to play games and soak up all the fall ambience.

“And, speaking of music, we are excited to have Cowboy Johnson and Jon Cook playing from 12-3 and Gary Story and Bad Habit playing from 4-7. Their music is going to be off the charts!

“This is definitely a family event. You’ll find grandparents doing the egg toss with their grandkids, kids playing laser tag, and people lining up again and again for the incredible homemade brats and smoked butts by Garlock Processing. (If you haven’t tried Josh’s smoked butts, you definitely have to attend this year because they are amazing!)”

Music will be performed throughout the afternoon, with Cowboy Johnson and Jon Cook scheduled to play from noon to 3 p.m. Gary Story and Bad Habit will take the stage from 4 to 7 p.m.

A variety of vendors will also be on hand, offering an assortment of crafts and culinary products.

The event is a fundraiser for the park. While some activities will be free, others will have a small fee. A requested $5 parking donation will also be collected, with proceeds earmarked for repaving the parking lot.

Organizers are inviting families and friends to attend the festival for a day of food, music, games and fall activities.
