Library recognizes top teen readers

DAPHNE — The Daphne Public Library teen summer reading program provided area teenagers an opportunity to read and participate in special events geared to their age group.

This summer, young adults listened to the beat of the RomanStreet band during a concert on the Daphne Library Plaza.

Workshops presented throughout June included a U. S. border protection presentation and a K-9 demonstration, a Yoga workout, a teen nutrition and cooking class, and an interactive demonstration on the marine-echo system.

Teen participants kept reading logs throughout the program, and the top three teen readers will be presented with medals at the Daphne City Council Meeting set for Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m., at City Hall. Mayor Fred Small and Councilmen John Lake and Gus Palumbo will present he honors.

Top readers include SaraKat Megginson, Shelagh Van Anglen and Eric Van Anglen.

The Daphne Public Library teen summer reading program was sponsored by the Friends of the Daphne Public Library and an Alabama Council on the Arts grant.
