Library kicks off teen program June 1

The Daphne Public Library invites all area teens to the YNK@Your Library Teen Summer Reading Kick-off, Friday, June 1, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Civic Complez Plaza.

The library will host a local area band, RomanStreet, to kick-off the library’s Teen Summer Reading Program.

These young musicians have experienced music from different parts of the world.

One of their most meaningful experiences was a visit to Switzerland and an opportunity to participate in a music workshop with one of Europe’s noted guitar duos, Tonic Strings.

This free event is for teens in grades six through 12.

Teens are invited to come to the library and read for prizes as well as to take part in scheduled events offered throughout June.

Along with music on the plaza, special events this summer will include a visitor from the U.S. Border Patrol along with a K-9 police dog, a yoga fitness coach, a presentation on exploring the life of sharks, and a workshop on teen nutrition and health issues.

Teens in junior high and high school can register to attend these events at the circulation desk of the Daphne Public Library.

The Daphne Public Library’s YNK@Your Library teen summer library program is sponsored by the Friends of the Daphne Public Library.
