With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Leobardo “Leo” Dionisio Ramos, Jr. He was a man with a generous spirit, a big heart, a mischievous smile, and zest for life. Leo, you made us laugh every day and we will miss you.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Leo's life was rich with adventures, from fishing in the Gulf of Mexico to hunting in the Apalachicola. Saturdays were for college football. Go Gators! Roll Tide!
His life-long adventures were shared with his wife, best friend, and true love, Wanda Lee Godwin Ramos.
Leo was known for his legendary fish frys. These meals were more than just food; they were expressions of love, bringing friends and family together.
After graduation from Stark High School and attending the University of Florida, Leo flourished as a civil servant at the Pensacola Navy Base. After retirement, he earned an accounting degree and built a marina at their Miflin Creek home.
Leo leaves behind a loving family, including his children, John, Rwandalee, and Rebecca and his 18 grand & great grandchildren, his siblings, and not least, his cherished cats, Boots and Patch.
We will celebrate his life on Fri., Apr. 12, at 2 p.m., at St Mark’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Wolf Bay Watershed Watch (www.wolfbaywatershedwatch.org) and Community Hospice Foundation of Baldwin County (www.communityhospiceal.org/about-us/foundation/).
As we remember Leo, let us honor his memory by embodying his kindness, curiosity, and love of life. Leo Ramos, you may have cast your final line into the waters of this world, but the ripples you've created will continue to spread. Rest in peace.
