Our city planner Greg Mims has got the right idea: Real Fairhopers (property tax and utility bill payers livng within the city limits) can no longer afford to give away free police and fire protection to Wal-Mart or the thousands of others living just outside the city limits who currently pay no kind of city taxes at all! Its about time to follow Foley’s lead and pull back our expensive public safety services to the city limit signs and use the millions saved for much needed in-town road improvements, to cut our property tax and electric bill rates and pay down our massive debt.

Let’s call and demand city hall end the gravy train for all the freeloaders out there (many of whom seem to have contempt for us anyway), put real Fairhopers first for a change, and finally start putting our financial ship in order before it sinks.
