George Law, 93, born Aug. 18, 1915 in Cleveland, a former resident of Gulf Shores and Spanish Fort and a resident of Twinsburg, Ohio, for the last seven years, died Sunday, April 17, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
He was employed by Reliance Electric for 44 years and retired as an engineering manager in 1981. After retiring to Gulf Shores, he served on the Gulf Shores Water Board for several years. He was also active in the American Legion. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulf Shores and taught Sunday school there.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Barnes Law of Eutaw; brother-in-law, John Bittner; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Law.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne L. (David) Vellenga and Betsy L. (Walt) Podgurski; son, Roger H. (Karen) Law; grandchildren, Andrew (Kathy) Vellenga, Ian Vellenga, Walt (Linda) Podgurski, Melanie (Thomas) Barni, Kerry (Matt) Pinto and Kevin (Sarah ) Law ; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jake, Gina, Adriana, Tyler and Hayden; sister Ruth Bittner; and brother, Robert Law.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
