Laurice Carmel “L.C.” Stewart


Laurice Carmel “L.C.” Stewart, 72, a native and resident of Bay Minette, died at his residence Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.

He was a truck driver (retired) for Baldwin Transfer Co.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the Army National Guard for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Miller Stewart of Bay Minette; one son, Gregory Neil Stewart of Stapleton; one daughter, Jennifer Elaine (Bobby) Goram of Stapleton; his mother, Viola Knapp of Bay Minette; one stepson, Ryan (Ana) Rhoades of Birmingham; two stepdaughters, Jennie (Shelby) Byrd of Stapleton and Holly (Joby) Johnson of Stapleton; three brothers, J.W. (Bonnie) Stewart of Rabun, Douglas M. (Libby) Stewart of Bay Minette and James D. (Lillian) Stewart of Rabun; one sister, Virginia L. Woods of Fairhope; nine grandchildren, Clarissa Marie Stewart, Allen Goram, Cynthia Goram, Cecilia Goram, Collin, Sydnee and Gavin Jerkins, Cody Rhoades and Emily Byrd; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Goram, Chloey Lynn and Carson Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarissa “Clara” Falcon Stewart; his son, Russell Wayne Stewart; his brother, Curtis Eugene Stewart; and his father, James Dugle Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Stapleton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, from 6 until 10 p.m., at Stapleton Baptist Church.
