DAPHNE, Ala.—Lake Forest residents cast their ballots Monday for new Lake Forest Property Owners Association board of directors members, and Gene Ponder, Richard Kersey and Ed Kirby emerged as new leaders of the subdivision.
In all, 2,094 votes were counted with the top three candidates winning a board position. Ponder got 427 votes; Kersey, 415; Kirby, 374; Reb Bailey, 264; Steve Scarcliff, 224; Joseph Jablecki, 200; Fred Hill, 124; and Michael Schultz, 66.
Bailey, Jablecki and Scarcliff campaigned as the “A Team,” while Kersey, Kirby and Ponder campaigned as the “Reform Team.”
Kersey said he, Kirby and Ponder learned about their victory Tuesday afternoon.
“We’re just delighted,” Kersey said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do. We have a new management company in place and we have to support them. We’re just thrilled about the opportunity to make Lake Forest better.” Board members last month voted 6-3 in favor of bringing in Vision Golf and Association to oversee Baldwin County’s largest subdivision. The issue divided Lake Forest residents.
