SPANISH FORT — The Lady Toros finished strong Saturday with a 58-25 win over Vigor in the 5A Area 2 championship at Spanish Fort.

SF advanced with a first-round win over Gulf Shores last week while the Lady Wolves eliminated Escambia County.

"The girls played pretty consistently against Gulf Shores the other night, but we lost that edge a little bit," said SF coach George Brown whose team was challenged by the Lady Dolphins. "I preached to them about not overlooking anybody and they responded and played well today. Now we have to get ready for the sub-regional game this Thursday and thanks to the girls' hard work, we'll get to host and we're looking forward to that."

The Lady Toros (22-6) will now host the Faith Academy Lady Rams (28-1) team (Ranked No. 1 in 5A) which lost its first game of the season Saturday to LeFlore in the Area 1 title game. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at Spanish Fort High School's gym. Vigor will travel to LeFlore to face the Lady Rattlers.

Spanish Fort led 30-11 at the half. Terra Reeves hit six 3-pointers to lead the Lady Toros over Vigor with 23 points.

Elissa VandeWaa added nine with 13 assists, Allison Whitley had eight and Princess Winston five for SFHS.

Faris Mills and Cornesha Spelton led the Lady Wolves 10 points and were named to the all-tournament team with Reeves, VandeWaa and Whitley.
