BAY MINETTE, Ala.—The Baldwin County High School Lady Tigers Softball team started the season strong at the "Swing into Spring Softball Tournament" at Robertsdale High. The Tigers won five games and lost one to finish in second place.

The Lady Tigers defeated Escambia County 19-0, Theodore 4-3, Citronelle 12-1, Theodore 5-2, Fairhope 4-1, and lost in the championship game to Alma Bryant 8-5.

“The girls played extremely well.  I was proud of the effort,” said Coach Anthony Cox. “We had great pitching by Sarah Day, Morgan Davison, and Kahalley Brooks.  Offensively, we hit the ball well. Alexis Cook, Tristan Blackmon, Randa Day, and Laura Weatherford batted over .450 in the tournament.”

Gail Pinkard, Chloe Buck, and Laura Weatherford also hit homeruns during the tourney. Coach Cox said the young team is off to a good start for the season.

“We are Looking forward to a great season. We are young but experienced. We have one senior, Sarah Day, and one junior, Gail Pinkard, and the rest of the team is freshman and sophomores,” Cox said. “Our goal is to win the area, go to the regionals and make it to the state tournament. Once you make it to state, anything can happen.”
