BAY MINETTE – Coming off of a 10-16 season, Faulkner State’s Lady Sun Chiefs are looking for a turn around this year.

"This is the most balanced team I have had in a few years," Faulkner women’s coach Linda Pitts said.

Pitts has five returning sophomores: Keara Walker and Cheryl Yearby, both from Birmingham; Lauren McGaster, Foley; Brittany Syria, Century,Fla.; and Demetria McWaine, Pensacola,Fla.

"We have the speed, up-tempo. Our defense has improved and we will be able to pressure strong this year. We have four players that are six feet or taller this year and they will be able to get inside and grab the rebounds," Pitts went on to say.

Those players are Alexis Broussard, 6'2 from McIntosh; Sheena Houston, 6'0 from Fort Towson, Okla.; Ashley Vickers 6'3 from Pensacola; and Destiny Lingelback 6'3 from Adamsville, Tenn.

Coach Pitts mentioned that she went to recruit Lingelback in Tennessee but didn't have to travel far to find Houston. Houston was working in Loxley when Pitts met her and asked her to come and try out for the team and the rest is history or history in the making.

Sheanice Rhoden, Mobile; Jonita Watkins, Foley; Leah Davis, Spanish Fort; Keisha Gant,  Moncks Corner,SC; Fredrika Burgess, Pensacola; Leonora Edwards, Mobile; Frenise Lawson, Grand Bay; Shanavia Ervin, Jackson; Megan Harris, Pensacola; and Nadia English, Jacksonville, Fla. round out the remainder of the 2009-2010 Lady Sun Chief roster.
