GULF SHORES – Grey Adams struck out 14 batters as the Fairhope Lady Pirates defeated Gulf Breeze, Fla. 8-1 in the Dolphin Classic softball tournament championship game on Saturday night at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Adams gave up just two hits and walked two batters in six innings and struck out the first 10 of 11 hitters she faced in the championship game.

"I just can't say enough about the way Grey pitched," Fairhope head coach Jonathan Heflin said. "She pitched a fantastic tournament and had a fantastic championship ball game. She was constantly in the strike zone."

The Lady Pirates, who previously won the Baldwin County tournament, improved to 12-3 overall and will begin 6A Area 3 play at Robertsdale on Tuesday.
