FOLEY, Ala. – The Lady Dolphins made sure they didn't have a letdown after finishing as runners up in the "Battle of Spanish Fort" tournament on Saturday.
Gulf Shores swept Foley 25-12, 25-20 in a match shortened by the looming graduation exams in Baldwin County this week.
The Lady Dolphins (17-11) jumped out to an early lead and never let up in the first game and fought off a more competitive Foley team in the second.
"That was what we talked to them about, coming off the tournament, how are we going to perform," Gulf Shores coach Wing Brett, who picked up his 400th win in the tournament, said. "Are we going to go out there and show how we are learning and improving or are we just going to go through the motions and not work hard. I thought they worked hard.
"For the most part, we came back after playing seven matches on Saturday and played really well."
Courtney Carter led Gulf Shores with 11 kills, Laura Peavy had 17 assists and Alex Hackworth had five digs.
