Labor Day concert to benefit planned Veterans Memorial

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — A Labor Day barbecue and benefit concert will be held Sept. 7 at American Legion Post 199, 700 S. Mobile St. in Fairhope.

Barbecue pork and chicken will be served in the Hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Plates and sides will be sold for $8.

Then music will be performed by the Ruffwater Band, from 4 until 7:30 on the Beach Stage.

RuffWater is a classic rock and blues band whose music is best described as “rock with a heavy dose of delta swamp.”

Since forming in the sweltering summer of 1998, RuffWater has been blowing with hurricane force winds that have taken the Gulf coast by storm.

The American Legion’s Tiki Bar will be open with hot dogs, sausages and cool refreshments, from 3 until 8 p.m.

There will be a free  Moonwalk for the kids.

Concert admission is $5, with ages 15 and under free.

Net proceeds will benefit the Fairhope Veterans Memorial Fund.

Bring chairs and sunscreen, but no coolers please.

The event moves inside in case of disagreeable weather.
