Sylvia Shepherd Kirksey, 74, a native of Indianapolis, former resident of Leland, Miss., and a longtime resident of Robertsdale, died Monday, March 22, 2010.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort. She was a graduate of Bob Jones University and a school teacher for many years at Greystone Christian School, Mobile, and also taught at Bethany Christian School, Whistler, Shiloh Christian School, Saraland, and Faith Presbyterian School, Robertsdale.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, James Jackson Kirksey, of Robertsdale; two sons, Dr. Franklin Lee (Sharon S.) Kirksey of Spanish Fort and James Frederick (Julie H.) Kirksey of Conyers, Ga.; three grandsons, Caleb Andrew, Nathan Frederick, and Seth Franklin, all of Conyers, Ga.; aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the children’s ministry of the First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort.
