Charles Lamar Killcrease, born Dec. 5, 1946, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at the Phobee Cancer Hospital in Albany, Ga.
He had three different cancers, the worst being liver cancer, which he finally succumbed to.
He worked offshore test drilling for oil from Alvin, Texas, worked for W.M. Richarson Trucking Co. as a mechanic and driver, worked as a diesel truck and tractor mechanic for Thompson Tractor Co. in Malbis.
He and his family left the United States and went down to Haiti. He served the Lord and the mission field for some time. They came back to the states on account of a government up-rising. His Mission Board sent them to Belize, British Honduras.
After three years they came home and settled in Leslie, Ga., where he had a church to pastor over. Along with preaching at his church, he also had a job with a man in his congregation who owned his own telephone company and he was the foreman over the truck and equipment shop.
Survivors include his wife, Antoinette “Toni” Killcrease; three daughters, Hannah Elizabeth Killcrease, Helen Ann Killcrease and Heather Adele Killcrease; brothers, Robert Killcrease of Bay Minette and Marshall Killcrease of Hutto, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 22 at Cold Springs Baptist Church in Cordele, Ga. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
