DAPHNE, Ala. — Children at the first meeting of the Daphne Public Library’s “Kids Clue Club” Friday enjoyed role playing and will discuss mysteries from the book list at subsequent meetings.

Members took part in “CSI: Mother Goose Land” as characters such as Jack B. Nimble and Miss Muffet fished for clues to find Humpty Dumpty’s murderer.

The club was inspired by a local mystery writer, Frank Anthony — also the program’s sponsor — who provides the children with T-shirts, Frisbees and their choice of books when they earn points by reading and keeping a reading log.

This month’s reading list includes: the Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene; the Hardy Boys series  by Franklin W. Dixon; the “Encyclopedia Brown” series  by Donald J. Sobol; the “Boxcar Children” series by Gertrude Chandler Warren; and “A to Z Mysteries” by Ron Roy.

The club will meet each Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.; it is open to third- through fifth-graders.
