Families will find several activities designed especially for children and young learners this week.

From hands-on nature programs to robotics classes and supervised evening play, these events provide chances for kids to explore, create and have fun in safe settings. Many of these events are free or budget-friendly, so families can enjoy special moments without stretching their wallet.

KIDS OPEN PLAY

What: Bay City Gymnastics Academy will host an open play session for children ages 6-15. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will enjoy gymnastics-themed activities. For more information call (251) 621-2112.

When: Thursday, Jan. 15, 2:30-3:25 p.m.

Where: Bay City Gymnastics Academy, 8534 Well Road, Daphne

Price: $10 for one child, $5 for each additional sibling, cash only

OZOBOT CLASS – MAKERSPACE

What: Fairhope Public Library will offer an Ozobot robotics class in the MakerSpace for ages 7-12. Participants will learn basic coding, problem-solving and creative design through interactive challenges using Ozobot robots. When: Thursday, Jan. 15, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Fairhope Public Library, 501 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope

KFNO (KIDS FUN NIGHT OUT)

What: YMCA of South Alabama will host Kids Fun Night Out, an evening program for children that includes activities and supervised play. Participants should bring their own Nerf gun and darts and some darts may be misplaced during the event. Registration available at https://ysal.org/programs/childcare/?keyword=kids.

When: Friday, Jan. 16, 6:30-10 p.m.

Where: 8051 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne

Price: Admission charged, call for details

EXPLORE & OBSERVE DAY: HIBERNATING ANIMALS

What: Graham Creek Nature Preserve will present Explore and Observe Day focusing on hibernating animals. Children will take part in games, a nature craft and story time about winter wildlife. The program is geared toward children up to age 10. Parents must remain with their children during the event. Registration is encouraged at https://tinyurl.com/ysbwufwn.

When: Saturday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m.

Where: Outdoor Classroom, Graham Creek Nature Preserve, 23460 Wolf Bay Drive, Foley

Price: Admission free, limited supplies available

BLU-EY DINNER AT THE HANGOUT

What: The Hangout will host a Blu-ey Dinner, a family event featuring themed activities, trivia, photo opportunities, dancing and character meet and greets along with dinner service and community-style seating. Two seatings will be available.

When: Sunday, Jan. 18, 5-7 p.m. with seatings at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
