From hands-on science demonstrations and nature programs to creative writing workshops and sea turtle education, families can find a variety of activities for young learners across Baldwin County in the coming weeks.

Most events are free or budget-friendly, offering entertainment and educational opportunities for children with a variety of interests.

SUMMER WRITING CAMP

What: Under The Southern Oak will host a summer journaling workshop for children ages 6-12. Participants will create personalized summer journals using stickers, washi tape, scrapbook paper, markers, colored pencils, collage materials and other craft supplies. Journal prompts and activity pages will encourage storytelling, creativity and critical thinking. Weekly themes include summer bucket lists, favorite memories, friendship prompts, mood trackers, dream vacations, nature-inspired activities and letters to a future self. All materials are included. WOW! FACTOR SCIENCE SHOW

What: Families are invited to enjoy an interactive science show featuring fun experiments and demonstrations. All ages are welcome and no registration is required.

When: Thursday, June 18, 2 p.m.

Where: Orange Beach Recreation Center, Gym 1, 4849 Wilson Blvd., Orange Beach

EXPLORE AND OBSERVE: POLLINATORS

What: Graham Creek Nature Preserve will host a hands-on learning program focused on pollinators and their role in the environment. Children will participate in outdoor activities, a pollinator-themed game and a craft project. The program is best suited for ages 4-10, though all ages are welcome. Craft supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

When: Saturday, June 20, 9 a.m.

Where: Graham Creek Nature Preserve Outdoor Classroom, 23460 Wolf Bay Drive, Foley

HANDS-ON HABITAT: SHARE THE BEACH SEA TURTLE PROGRAM

What: Tacky Jacks Grill & Tavern will host a free educational program presented by the Share the Beach Sea Turtle Program. Participants will learn about Gulf Coast ecosystems and wildlife through hands-on activities. Online reservations are required for all participants, including adults. Guests should arrive 15 minutes early for check-in. Lunch may be purchased during the event.

When: Wednesday, June 24, 11 a.m.-noon
