Families looking for ways to keep children engaged and entertained have several options in the coming week, as area libraries and local organizations are offering programs designed to spark imagination, encourage learning and provide fun for kids of all ages.

Many of these events are free or budget-friendly, so families can enjoy special moments without stretching their wallet.

KIDS OPEN PLAY

What: Bay City Gymnastics Academy will host an open play session for children ages 6-15. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will enjoy a variety of gymnastics-themed activities designed for movement and fun. For more information call (251) 621-2112.

When: Thursday, Feb. 19, 2:30-3:25 p.m.

Where: Bay City Gymnastics Academy, 8534 Well Road, Daphne

Price: $10 for one child, $5 for each additional sibling, cash only

STORY TIME WITH WORD BIRD

What: Bay Minette Public Library will host Story Time with Word Bird, an interactive reading program designed to encourage early literacy and engagement through storytelling. The session is geared toward young children and features lively readings and participation. The location may vary between the library and Kid's Park. Check the library's Facebook page for updates.

When: Tuesday, Feb. 24, 10 a.m.

Where: Bay Minette Public Library, Bay Minette

Price: Free admission

HOMESCHOOL ART ACADEMY: ALMA THOMAS MOSAICS

What: Orange Beach Public Library will present a Homeschool Art Academy program focused on artist Alma Thomas and her abstract mosaic-style paintings. Participants will learn about Thomas' work and create a mosaic-inspired artwork of their own. The program is open to children of all ages and best suited for ages 5 and older. LEGO CLUB

What: Fairhope Public Library will host LEGO Club for children ages 4-12. Participants will take part in creative building and collaborative play, including constructing castles, spaceships and LEGO brick films. Parents must remain with children ages 6 and younger.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 25, 4-5 p.m.
