Several key region games highlight this Friday night’s high school football games involving Baldwin County teams.

Starting in Class 6A Region 2, Foley (4-3, 3-2) hosts McGill-Toolen while Fairhope (7-0, 4-0) hosts eastern shore rival Daphne (3-4, 3-1).

Foley is coming off a 42-0 win over Satsuma in which quarterback Darius Powell put up season-best rushing numbers to defeat the Gators. Powell rushed 200 yards and four touchdowns. Foley’s defense dominated the game from the very start, giving up just 60 yards of total offense in the win.

Fifth-ranked Fairhope is coming off a 42-7 rout of region foe Robertsdale. The Pirates, who are 7-0 for just the sixth time in school history, defeated the Golden Bears without standout running back Jamal Woodyard. Woodyard did not dress for the game because of a disciplinary issue. He should return this week to play against Daphne.

The Trojans defeated Baldwin County on a Brandon Roberts field goal with 13.4 seconds to play last week. Daphne struggled against out-of-region teams to start the season but have put together a 3-1 Region 2 record with wins over Foley, Satsuma and Baldwin County.

In 5A Region 1 Gulf Shores (4-2, 3-2) will play at St. Paul’s while Spanish Fort (5-2, 3-2) will host No. 3 ranked Vigor, the defending 5A state champ.

Gulf Shores defeated Escambia County 42-6 on Friday. Quarterback Logan Paul continued his incredible season, throwing for 347 yards and five touchdowns and adding a touchdown on the ground. Paul has 23 touchdown passes to just two interceptions this season.

Spanish Fort was upset 18-13 by LeFlore on Friday. The Toro loss created a three-way tie for third place in 5A Region 1. Vigor and St. Paul’s are the region’s leaders, while Spanish Fort, Gulf Shores and LeFlore are tied.

The Toros defeated Gulf Shores earlier this season.

In other area action on Friday, Bayside Academy (4-3) travels to Luverne, Robertsdale (0-7) visits Monroe County and Baldwin County (4-3, 1-3) hosts Satsuma.
