Harry Edward Keenan Sr., 84, a native of Philadelphia and a resident of Fort Morgan died Friday, April 2, 2010 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and among his assignments was NAAS Corry Field, NAAS Barin Field and aboard the USS Ranger, CV4.
He was an employee at Brookly Field and was transferred to Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio, where he advanced to become a Depot Support Manager in the F-16 Weapon System Acquisition Program before retiring in May 1984.
He was a member of the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church for many years, Also, a member of Fort Morgan Civic Association, Krewe of Les Beau Geste of Foley, American Legion Post 44, Gulf Shores, Pentalpha Lodge; F & AM and Member of the Association of Logistic Engineers.
He served for many years as the resident “Grandfather” safety patrol, and worked in the Library at Bayside East in Gulf Shores.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Margie Elizabeth Stringfellow Keenan, and two brothers, John J. Keenan and Richard L. Keenan Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife and companion, Maxine S. Clark; six children, Linda (George) Partridge, Harry (Terri) Keenan Jr., Janet (Robert) McKenzie, Dennis (Suzanne) Clark, Gary Clark and Ricky (Debbie) Clark; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at noon with a memorial service at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5 at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.
