Kayak class in Orange Beach Saturday

ORANGE BEACH, AL — The City of Orange Beach Wind & Water Learning Center is hosting an introductory course to coastal kayaking Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center.

This introductory course to coastal kayaking is the perfect opportunity for beginners and experienced kayakers alike to improve their kayaking stroke efficiency, rescue techniques and coastal piloting skills. This course will cover essential kayak strokes, total body paddling techniques, solo and assisted rescues. Kayakers who wish to paddle larger lakes, tidal bays and inter-coastal waterways will learn essential skills and knowledge designed to help them improve their skills and knowledge and help them in becoming safer and better kayakers.

PFD's must be worn at all times on the water. Participants should come with lunch and drink for a day on the water. Class participants may bring their own kayaks which can be sit on tops, or decked touring or sea kayaks. Touring kayaks may also be rented from the Wind & Water Learning Center. American Canoe Association certified instructor, Ron Smith will teach the course.

Cost is $95 with your own gear; or, $125 with a Wind and Water Learning Center kayak, paddle and PFD.
