The GFWC Jubilee Woman’s Club will celebrate its commitment to community service with Do Good Date Night on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Bill-E’s, 19992 Highway 181 in Fairhope.

Per a news release, the event will begin at 6 p.m. and raise support for the club’s volunteer initiatives as well as Reach Out and Read-Alabama, a nonprofit program that encourages early childhood literacy by providing free age-appropriate books to children from birth to age 5 during regular well-child visits.

Guests will enjoy Rock and Roll Bingo, opportunities to win one of five Chinese Auction Baskets and participation in the evening’s “Virtual Book Drive,” which will benefit Reach Out and Read-Alabama sites in Baldwin County.

Tickets are $75 per couple and include dinner, souvenir cups and two raffle tickets. Tickets are available at www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/jubilee-womans-clubdo-good-date-night.

“Every contribution, large or small, helps our club continue its volunteer spirit and provide meaningful support where it is needed most, right here on the Eastern Shore,” Amanda Green Mitchell, President of Jubilee Woman’s Club, said in the release.

Green Mitchell said the literacy initiative holds special significance for the organization.

“The Reach Out and Read-Alabama project is especially meaningful to our club members. It is part of the GFWC Alabama President’s Project, ‘Powering Potential-Read.’ Our own clubwoman, Caroline Hollowell, currently serves as GFWC Alabama State President,” Mitchell said.

Funds raised through the Virtual Book Drive will provide books to children served by Coastal Pediatrics, Eastern Shore Children’s Clinic and Fairhope Pediatrics. Members of the public may contribute directly to the book drive at http://givebutter.com/gfwc-jubilee-virtual-book-drive.
