Joy Miller Zeanah

Joy Miller Zeanah of Daphne, formerly of Magnolia Springs, departed this life on November 27, 2022, after a brief illness. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Bob Zeanah; her devoted daughters, Brooke Butts (Danny) of Mobile and Lindsay Nicholas of Irvington; and her “bonus” sons, John Zeanah (Cathleen) of Memphis, TN, and Sam Zeanah (Alexis) of Los Angeles, CA. Additionally, she is survived by her four loving grandchildren, Mallory Henderson, Christopher Henderson, Katelyn Barnhill, Brian Christopher Barnhill; and three loving “bonus” grandchildren, Libby Jane Zeanah, Annie Zeanah, and Margot Zeanah.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Joy attended college at The University of Southern Mississippi and earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education. Joy loved her students and taught in Hattiesburg City Schools and Mobile County Schools. She served as a consultant for Character Education in the Baldwin County School System and was proud of the lives she touched as an educator. Joy believed that making an impact on children was the greatest gift she could give to her community.

Joy was a Master Gardener and served as the past president of the Week’s Bay Reserve Volunteers and was an active volunteer at the Magnolia Springs Library, and a “Pink Lady” volunteer at Thomas Hospital. Joy’s exuberance for life and her giving spirit are well known and respected amongst her family and friends.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, 10:00 AM, at St. James Episcopal Church, 860 N. Section Street in Fairhope, Alabama.
