Johnnie Samuel Ward passed away on Nov. 13, 2021.

Johnnie was born on Apr. 13, 1959, in Fairhope, Alabama, to Arcle (RC) and Edna Mae Ward. After graduating from Fairhope High School, he relocated to Chicago, Illinois. Upon returning to Fairhope, Johnnie stepped out on faith and started his successful construction business, striving to provide an exceptional level of service.

He was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Walter Lee Bush, Arcle Jr., Frank James, and Earl Bernard Ward; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Anania (Elora) Ward, Florence Drake; sister, Ms. Johnnie Mae Ward.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted partner in life, Loretta Y. Alexander of Fairhope; children, Ashley Savage, Brandy Savage, Shawn Black, Raymon Black, Maurice Rupert, Jania Ward, Jozalyn Ward, Octavia Wright, Katoya Johnson, Gregory Hargrove, Trai Kyles, Tori Kyles, Brandon Kyles, Derrick Kyles, Terill Kyles, Ray Kyles, Raekell Hooks; Johnnie welcomed numerous children into his life, home and loved them unconditionally as his own; four sisters, Theresa Ward and Florence Shepard of Mobile, Alabama, Mrs. Gloria (Hugh) Hawthorne and Ms. Rose Montgomery of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Kenneth Ward, Robert (Trina) Ward and Curtis (Knikita) Martin, all of Chicago, Illinois; sister-in-law, Mrs. Addie Ward of Augusta, Georgia; forty-four (44) grandchildren; three devoted nieces, Deidre “Dee Dee” Travis, Seliana Ward, Shannon Brown; a special and devoted friend, Rosetta Y. Wasp; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a Celebration of Life following in memory of Mr. Ward at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 860 N. Section Street, Fairhope, AL.

Interment at Twin Beech Community Cemetery, Fairhope, Alabama.
