John Myron Boteler, born Aug. 29, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed on suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at Providence Hospital.
John was an active member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and a greeter. He was the owner and operator of Boteler Building Co., and had a God-given talent to make, model or repair just about anything one can imagine. He was highly skilled in his creative talents, and bestowed many wonderful and miraculous gifts for his beloved family and customers.
He was an avid Crimson Tide supporter and loved to talk “Tide Talk” with his grandsons, cousins and friends. He played baseball at the University of Alabama for two years and prior to that he graduated from Marion Institute, where he played football and baseball and was voted Most Valuable Athlete.
He touched so many lives with his wonderful and constant sense of humor. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh and feel good about themselves. He was extremely generous in so many ways and always thought of others before himself. He adored his family, and loved his friends deeply. There are no words for how much he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Dean Roberts Boteler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Parkhouse Boteler; daughters, Stephanie (Terry) Jones of Fairhope and Allyson Dyas of Destin, Fla.; grandsons, Geoffrey and Griffin Brooks, and Nicholas Dyas; father, James Knox Boteler Sr. of Tuscaloosa; brother, James Know Boteler Jr. of Mobile; sister, Susan (Bruce) Caples of Tuscaloosa; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many friends.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, the family welcomes everyone to come for a visitation at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service to celebrate John’s life at noon.
