Joel Henderson

Joel Henderson passed from his life on earth to a better place on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the age of 89.

He was freed at last from the cancer that had sickened his body, but never claimed his indomitable spirit.

Joel leaves behind Ruth, his beloved wife; Lisa Adams, his daughter; and Melvin Adams, his son-in-law.

Joel was a vibrant, well-read man, who loved life and enjoyed the company of his friends and family.

He was a past chief of the Los Angeles Vikings, a member of the Los Angeles Flood Plain Commission and a teacher and mentor to many.

His artistic side was reflected in his passion for playing big band-era and jazz standards on his standup bass.

Joel was a data consultant and mathematician. His jobs allowed him to travel throughout the world.

He will be sorely missed.
