Joe G. Dykes, age 87, born in Cottondale, Fla. and a resident of Bay Minette, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his residence. He was a supervisor (retired) in the pulp and paper industry. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by; his wife, Johnnie M. (Straughn) Dykes of Bay Minette; one son, Jim Dykes of Daphne,; two daughters, Susan (Bruce) Lovett and Melanie (Randy) Brannan both of Bay Minette; two sisters, Betty Fulton and Sharon Dykes both of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 4 p.m. at White House Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Fred Stallworth and Rev. Leon O. Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. service at White House Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Brannan, John Messer, Michael Lenz, Kirby Weaver, Bruce Lovett and Randy Brannan.
