Jerry Fredrick Phillips, 76, of Gulf Shores passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born in Eldorendo, Ga. on Sept. 28, 1936, to the late William Hardy and Allie Reitas Phillips. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Phillips and Franklin Phillips.
In 1955, Jerry joined the United States Navy and served for four years.
In 1962, Jerry began working for L&N Railroad, and he worked there until he retired 33 years later.
Jerry was a member of Foley First Baptist Church.
He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patty “Pat” Phillips; daughter, Cathy Phillips Dyson and husband Reid of Pace, Fla.; son, Rich Phillips and Narissa Nelson of Bon Secour; grandchildren, Catherine Wood and husband Thad, Nina Johnson and husband Todd, Patricia Thames and husband Zach, all of Milton, Fla., and Zachary Phillips; great-grandchild, Sara Catherine Wood; and brother, Bobby Phillips of Roseburg, Ore.
The funeral service will held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at the chapel of Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. The visitation will be from noon until time of service at Pine Rest.
The interment will follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.
