James Walter “Jim” Brothers, 53, born Feb. 6, 1957 in Gadsden, a resident of Gulf Shores, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010.
He graduated from Gadsden High School in 1977. His career days started at Pet Dairy. Then he spent 13 years working for Keebler Company, and later started three successful businesses of his own.
At the time of his death he lived in Gulf Shores and worked with “Share The Beach” Sea Turtle Volunteer Program. He loved being involved with sea turtle rescue. He also loved his family, the ocean, fishing, and riding his Harley.
His favorite times were when his grandchildren came to visit him at the beach. Everyone who met him loved him. He had a big, kind heart and loved life. He found his passion with involvement with the Sea Turtle Rescue.
He gave his heart to Christ at a young age and was baptized with his son, Walter, in 1990. He attended church at First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Brothers and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Harris; his father, Bill Gordon Brothers; sister, Mary Jane Brothers Balducci; and brother, John Gordon Brothers.
Survivors include his mother, Dolores Brothers; four children, Walter (Amy) Brothers, Jim (Gina) Brothers, Julie Brothers (Andrew) Tyson, Jennifer Brothers (Josh) Edmondson; their mother, Annette Brothers; grandchildren, David, Tyler, Noah and Addie Brothers; many close friends in Gadsden, Oxford, Spartanburg, S.C., and Gulf Shores.
Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden.
