James Thomas Bradley Jr.


James Thomas Bradley Jr., 77, of Blacksher, died at home on Oct. 21, 2013.

He was born Sept. 20, 1936 in Mobile, the only child of James Thomas Bradley Sr. and Agatha Deaver Bradley.

Tom graduated from McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn. in 1955. In 1960, he graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration.

After graduation from Auburn, Tom spent time in the Alabama National Guard.

He then went back to Bay Minette to help his parents run Bradley’s Hardware, which he continued to do until 1984 when he became a licensed real estate salesman and subsequently a licensed real estate broker and then a qualifying broker. At that time he started Bradley Land and Appraisal Inc.

Tom served as president of the Bay Minette Kiwanis Club, chairman of the board of directors at Bayside Academy, chairman of the board of directors at North Baldwin Hospital, chairman of the board of directors at the Bay Minette Chamber of Commerce and president of the North Baldwin United Fund.

He served on the board of directors of First Alabama Bank, board of directors of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives, board of directors of the Baldwin County Electric Membership Cooperative, board of directors for the North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation and as a trustee for PowerSouth Energy Cooperative Inc.

He was a member of the Bay Minette Rotary Club, National Review Committee for the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.

Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Galloway Bradley; three children, James Thomas Bradley III (Mary Beth), Patricia Leigh Bradley and Mary Louise Bradley Casey (Yancey); seven grandchildren, James Thomas Bradley IV, Richard Andrew Bradley, John Marshall Seibt Jr., Thomas Bradley Seibt, Ashleigh Brice Seibt, Elizabeth Lynn Casey and David Yancey Casey III.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at 9 a.m., at the Steadham Cemetery in Blacksher. Church services will be follow at 11 a.m. at Montgomery Hill Baptist Church in Tensaw.

Pallbearers will be Pete Bertucci, John McMillan, Bucky Adams, Jamie Jaye, Carl Waddell and Greg Gipson. Honorary pallbearers will be Pfilip Hunt, Kerry O’Connor, Danny Fox, Maury McPhillips, Jett Freeman and Brent Baker.
