James Messenger, born Sept.r 18, 1930 in Terra Alta, W.Va., and a resident of Robertsdale, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at home after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Hennigan Messenger, son, Gerald Messenger and daughter, Jennifer Messenger.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Messenger of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Gerry Messenger of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four sons, James Messenger, Chris Messenger and Sam Messenger, all of Ohio, and Thad Messenger of Washington, D.C.; three step-sons, Bob, Todd and Scott Schweitzer, all of Ohio; three daughters, Trish Messenger, Monica Davis and Maura Dismuke, all of Alabama; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephew.
He donated his body to USA College of Medicine.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
