Catherine Schraffenberger Jackson, born and raised in Pensacola, Fla., 80, died early Saturday morning, April 5, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Fairhope.

She retired from Toledo Bend, Texas, for bass fishing. She moved to Point Clear to be with her grandchildren in 2002 and was a member of Barnwell Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rufus William Jackson III, U.S. Navy chief petty officer.

Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Jackson of Canton, N.C.; three grandchildren, Melissa Cheree Smith and Jeremy Michael Smith, both of Point Clear; and Reginald David (Shannon Patricia) Smith of Navarre, Fla., and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Rebecca Smith of Navarre, Fla.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Graveside services will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
