Irene Gawlik Solley, 95, of Fairhope, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017.

She was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 11, 1922 and attended and graduated from Dickerson High School.

In the late 1940s to early 1950s, she had the privilege of working at the New York Stock Exchange. In later 1950s, she and her husband, Alpha C. Solley decided to move to Fairhope, Alabama and they made it their home.

Throughout the '70s, she assisted her husband in his physical therapy practice office in their residence on Nichols Avenue in Fairhope.

Irene was a lady of faith, attending St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was an active member for nearly half a century.

Surviving are her two sons, Thomas Alpha Solley and Frank Lee Solley; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her longtime dearest friend and neighbor, Wanda Johnson, who was always considered "part of the family."

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Fr. Steve Williams.
