SUMMERDALE — The town of Summerdale is one step closer to having a new police chief.

As previously reported, Eddie Ingram resigned from the position last month when Montgomery Circuit Judge Charles Price affirmed the revocation of his Alabama Police Certification, which had been imposed by the Alabama Police Officers Standards and Training Commission in May 2012 Upon Ingram’s resignation, Summerdale Police Maj. Trent Dennis was named interim chief and the town began taking applications for the vacancy.

Although the submission deadline was not until Wednesday of this week, the Summerdale Town Council began reviewing resumes after Tuesday evening’s regular work session.

“There’s around 30,” Summerdale Town Clerk Tiffany Lynn said.

While most of the candidates are local, some reside in other parts of Alabama and out of state.

Interviews for the vacancy begin this week.
