MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — Jesse’s Restaurant in Magnolia Springs will be the site of an informational meeting presented by Impact 100 of Baldwin County this week.

The event will be held 4-6 p.m. Thursday and will feature speakers Francis Hope Johns and a representative of Care House, a 2012 Impact 100 grant.

According to Membership Chairman Becky Sappington, Thursday’s meeting is part of a county-wide effort to recruit area females over the age of 18 for a membership fee of $1,000 each. However, that fee is used for good causes.

“Every dollar of a person’s membership fee is applied to the (Impact 100) grant,” Sappington said.

That grant is geared toward a purpose.

“Impact 100 Baldwin County seeks to benefit the residents of Baldwin County by annual impact grants to fund innovactive impact projects,” Sappington explained.

Those projects can be for arts and culture, education, environmental preservation and recreation, family or health and wellness, she added.

In 2012, a total of 212 members enabled $212,000 to be awarded in two equal grants of $106,000 going to Ecumenical Ministries and Under His Wings.

With that in mind, Thursday’s meeting is part of an effort to provide even more grant funding in 2013.

“Our goal is to have over 300 members this year,” Sappington said.
