Huntington Learning Center's Daphne campus offers continuing education units to tutors

DAPHNE, Ala. — Huntington Learning Center, a provider of supplemental education services, announced that it will offer continuing education units — or CEUs — to tutors for initial and ongoing training courses taken.

Huntington has partnered with the Programs for Continued Learning office at Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education to provide Huntington teachers CEUs for classes completed as part of the organization’s teacher training and development program.

“We’re very excited to offer this incredible benefit to our teachers,” said Beth Dotson, center director of Huntington Learning Center in Daphne. “Many of Huntington’s teachers are employed with us because they enjoy working with students on a one-on-one basis and gain great satisfaction seeing students make big strides. The fact that these professionals can now earn continuing education credits for the on-the-job training they receive at Huntington makes tutoring at Huntington an extremely attractive part-time job — for teachers as well as other professionals.”

“At Old Dominion, we work with many great companies and institutions and are able to recognize high-quality teaching and learning,” said Fran Puchalski, director of programs for continued learning and co-director for the Virginia Department of Education career switcher program at Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education. “We are impressed with Huntington Learning Center’s training curriculum, awards and commitment to helping improve competency of students today through the development of their professional tutors. We are excited to partner with Huntington to offer CEUs for training courses that enable their teachers to deliver the best possible tutoring services.”

Huntington Teachers College, Huntington’s teacher training and development system, provides initial training and ongoing professional development to all Huntington tutors, added Dotson. The courses are designed to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about the Huntington curriculum and capable of applying Huntington’s methods in the most effective manner possible.
