Doris Austin Hughes, born Aug. 3, 1923, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at her home after battling a long illness with breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.S. Hughes, two brothers, Robert (Rob) Austin of Calera, and Cecil (Bo) Austin of Clanton, and one sister, Theora Austin Bone of Marion.
She was a faithful member of Fairhope Baptist Church in Fairhope, and previously Siloam Baptist Church of Marion.
Survivors include a sister, Nell Austin Rinehart of Jacksboro, Tenn.; two daughters, Wanda Hughes (Bill) Kuchel of Dallas and Lynn Hughes (Brad) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Austin “Butch” (Donna) Hughes of Fairhope; five grandchildren, Daniel and Niki Hughes, Ashley Kuchel, Drew and Brittany Anderson.
Visitation will be held beginning at 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Marion City Cemetery in Marion.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
