Oscar Nelson Howard, 72, born in Troy and a resident of Bay Minette, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Oakwood Nursing Home in Bay Minette.
He was owner and operator of Bay Minette Auto Parts for 30 years. He served with the U.S. Navy; was active with Little League Football; and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Walter W. Howard.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie G. Quinley, Howard of Bay Minette; two sons, Sheldon K. Howard of Gulf Shores and Shannon G. (Sheila) Howard of Bay Minette; one daughter, Nycole H. (Jason) Stewart of Bay Minette; nine grandchildren;; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial were held Thursday, July 5 at Bay Minette Cemetery with the Rev. Kenny Hoomes and Chaplain Cindy Still officiating. Military honors were rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Active pallbearers were Cary Roley, Ken Phillips, Louis Ruffin, Jerry Donald, Greg Phillips and Bubba Rider.
