Foley, Arizona locations investigated for alleged money laundering, labor exploitation

Gulf Coast Media is on scene and can confirm federal agents are inside Colt Grill BBQ & Spirits in downtown Foley.

UPDATE: Hwy 98 and Alston Street is re-opened to the public.

Agencies visible on scene include HSI, ATF, Foley Police Department and Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.

Though no people were seen being detained or led away from the scene, several agents removed boxes and files from the restaurant.

Colt opened Jan. 16 after a restoration to the building that used to be the old Foley Bakery, which was built in 1925, at the corner of North Alston Street and West Laurel Avenue. It started in Arizona and has four locations out west in Sedona, Prescott, Prescott Valley and Cottonwood.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, which serves the Arizona county with headquarters in Prescott, posted to Facebook this afternoon that they are assisting HIS and “multiple other federal agencies” on a “complex criminal investigation involving alleged criminal activity including money laundering and labor exploitation that is tied to all locations of the Colt Grill.”

According to a statement from the Foley Police Department, their officers are assisting Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in serving a search warrant in the downtown business district of Foley, causing a "heavy law enforcement presence" in the area of Hwy. 98 and Alston Street. That area has many restaurants and businesses in the walkable downtown district.

The department is asking people to avoid the area and will notify when the area reopens.

This a developing story. Stay tuned here for updates.
