GULF SHORES, AL — Holy Spirit Thrift Shop recently made a donation of $5,000 to The Refuge for Women in Robertsdale.

The Refuge is a residential treatment for women recovering from alcohol and drug abuse. The rehabilitation home provides a balanced holistic program for recovery including daily 12-step meetings, equine therapy, classes to develop skills for daily living including time management, employment readiness, parenting, nutrition and solid spiritual development.

Professional group, family and individual counseling are provided along with transitional programs to aid residents in maintaining a safe sober environment after leaving the home.

In accepting the donation, Refuge Board Director the Rev. Martha Kreamer said the money will provide partial scholarships for South Baldwin Women and help the center staff make improvements to continue to meet Federal and CARF requirements.

The Holy Spirit Thrift Shop, is an outreach ministry of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Located at 6798 Alabama 59 in Gulf Shores, the thrift shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
