Homer Lee Hollis, 59, a native of LaGrange, Ga., and a resident of Silverhill, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed rebuilding vehicles and was employed by Birmingham Hide and Tallow as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Carol T. Hollis; three children, Alicia Hollis Edwards of Dallas, Ga.; Jessi and Gavin Hollis; his mother, Ruth Smith of LaGrange; four sisters, Nancy Roland of DeSoto, Ga., Stella Smith of Dalton, Ga., Rita Elders of Silver Creek, Ga., and Lois Brooks of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Raymond Ballew and Larry Ballew of Cedartown, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the First Baptist Church
of Robertsdale with the Rev. Jeff Copeland officiating.
Cremation arrangements were made by Hughes Cremation & Funeral Service of Daphne.
