Buford Lee Hollingsworth, 62, a native of Pineville, Fla., and a resident of the Rabun community of Bay Minette, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at his residence.
He was a truck driver with Koch/Eott Energy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and he hauled the first missiles to Cape Canaveral.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison and Pearlie Hollingsworth.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Stewart Hollingsworth of Rabun; four children, Brannon (Heather) Hollingsworth of Hartselle, Tiffany Hollingsworth (Thomas) Jordan of Loxley, Katheryn Hollingsworth (Jason) Pierce of Rabun and Stewart Hollingsworth of Rabun; four brothers, Albert (Ruth) Hollingsworth of Elberta, Jerry (Carol) Hollingsworth of Satsuma, Charles (Sharron) Hollingsworth of Fairhope and James (Debbie) Hollingsworth of Loxley; sister, Mary Louise (Leonard) Nelson of Fairhope; eight grandchildren, Tyler Hollingsworth, Phillip Hollingsworth, Bronwyn Hollingsworth, Ella Hollingsworth, Preston Hollingsworth, Kade Jordan, Kolby Jordan and Micah Pierce; and his father and mother-in-law, Douglas and Lucile Stewart of Rabun.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Vision Ministries Church of God with Helen Stewart and the Rev Alan Blackmon, the Rev. Jerry Hollingsworth and the Rev. Larry Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery in Rabun. Military honors will be rendered at graveside by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Stewart, Larry Stewart, Bruce McDavid, Kevin Henderson, Jack Harville and Burk Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be James Blackmon and Dr. James DeVaney.
