William D. “Dub” Hobbs Jr., 85, a proud native and resident of Rosinton, former resident of Gulf Shores, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012.

He was a member of the Robertsdale Church of Christ and former councilman for the City of Gulf Shores in the 1970s. He loved to entertain by singing and playing the piano and enjoyed shrimping and fishing in the lagoon. He was a farmer and had a love for gardening and growing all types of citrus. He had a very successful career in selling insurance and real estate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Hobbs Sr. and Grace Cooper Hobbs; two brothers, Grover Hobbs and Tom Hobbs; sister, Emma O’Connell; and son, Barney Thomas Hobbs. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette R. Hobbs of Rosinton; two daughters, Dovie Hobbs (Alan) Bohnhoff of Marietta, Ga., and Macy Hobbs (Dana) Wilcox of Rosinton; step-son, Lance (Heather) Long of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at the Robertsdale Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Old Cooper Cemetery, Rosinton.
