HJWC donating $10,000

The Bay Minette Heritage Junior Women’s Club will be awarding an estimated $10,000 to fund various teacher’s grants, scholarships, and area programs tonight at their annual club banquet.

The club sponsored various events throughout the year including a fall and spring plant sale and a chili cook-off to raise money.

Teachers from schools in Bay Minette and the surrounding area applied for the grants by submitting essays to the club.

The Heritage Club chooses several teachers to support based on their essays.

Endowments will also go toward scholarships for the Junior Miss program, a Hoby Scholarship and reading programs with the Bay Minette Public Library.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the Heritage Club’s provisional members will be invited to join as full members. This year, the HJWC will “pin” 10 new members.

The HJWC banquet will be held at the conference room at the Baldwin County EMC building at 6 p.m.
