SPANISH FORT, Ala. — A public “walk on” boat tour of the nature-rich Tensaw-Mobile River Delta is offered by Blakeley State Park for Saturday; the location is the park dock on Tensaw River. The Delta Explorer leaves the park dock on the Tensaw at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 11:30 a.m.
Passengers may “walk on” by buying tickets at the park that morning or may guarantee seating by calling 251-626-5581 and purchasing them in advance using major credit cards.
Tickets cost $22 for adults, $12 for children 6 to 12 and are free for 4- to 5-year-olds. The boat is also available for charter.
A park ranger narrates the boat tour, describing what is seen along the route and also the wildlife that is hidden in the vast marshy delta, the second largest in the United States.
Blakeley Park is on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S. 31 at Spanish Fort.
