ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- A high-speed chase that began in Pensacola, Fla., ended in Robertsdale on Wednesday.

Maj. Anthony Lowery, assistant chief enforcement command with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, said he received a report from Sgt. Ben Burke Thursday morning.

According to the report, Lowery said, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies in Pensacola received a call in the early morning hours of an abandoned vehicle, a 1999 Chevy pickup truck. While in the process of towing the vehicle, an unknown male climbed onto the wrecker, drove the truck off the wrecker and proceeded on U.S. Highway 90 toward Seminole, where Burke and Deputy Austin Jones picked up the chase.

After losing the vehicle in Seminole, deputies picked up the chase northbound on County Road 87 and back onto Highway 90 where the chase reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour before, with the assistance of officers from the Robertsdale Police Department, deputies were able to spike the vehicle at the Cardinal Hills Subdivision, blowing out all four tires, Lowery said.

The vehicle came to a stop at Carlee’s Mobile Home Court, where the suspect fled on foot.

After allegedly stealing another vehicle belonging to Robertsdale resident Harold Clendenin, the chase proceeded along County Road 71 where the suspect attempted to run over another deputy, according to the report.

The chase ended when the vehicle crashed at Baldwin Farms Apartments at the end of Highway 90 in Robertsdale, Lowery said, where, according to the report, deputies had to force their way into the vehicle and the suspect was hit several times with a stun gun before being arrested by Sheriff’s deputies.

The suspect was identified as Michael Jay Scott II, 20, of Muldoon Road, Pensacola, and Lowery said, it was found he had several outstanding warrants in Florida.

Lowery said Scott admitted to being high on drugs before being booked into the Baldwin County Jail facility at 7:59 Wednesday morning.

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held without bond at the Baldwin County Jail on fugitive from justice charges. In addition, Scott is being charged with first degree assault, receiving stolen property (greater than $2,500), first degree, and theft of property (motor vehicle), all felony charges with carry a $30,000 bond, and a felony charge of using a false identity to obstruct justice, which carries a $15,000 bond. He was also charged with two additional misdemeanor charges, resisting arrest and attempt to elude, both of which carry a $500 bond.
