SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Spanish Fort High School students will be taking the high school graduation exam starting tomorrow.

The message Principal Michael Lucci would like to get out to parents and students is that it is critical for students to attend every day during the testing.

He suggests that students come to school rested, fed and “ready to go.”

“We need to make sure kids get to school,” he said.

Lucci said this is the first time that hundreds of students at the high school will be taking the test. One state measurement to determine if a school is making adequate progress with the No Kid Left Behind act is the attendance rate during the test.

Ninety-five percent of students must be in attendance during testing. He said the school must make the 95 percent attendance or the school will be in a difficult situation. The test runs for six days, starting tomorrow and ending a week from this Friday. This year the test has six parts, instead of the usual five. A section in biology was added. Test results will be back on March 31.
